The Results Are In! Three Pass Exams.

Needham DBS celebrates three employees who passed the October 2016 NCEES professional engineering exams.

Jeremy Stech passed the NCEES Principles of Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam.  The PE civil/structural exam is a civil breadth and a structural depth examination. The breadth exam contains questions from all five areas of civil engineering. The depth exams focus more closely on a single area of practice in civil engineering. Examinees work all questions in the morning session and all questions in the afternoon module they have chosen. The exam is an 8-hour open-book exam. It contains 40 multiple-choice questions in the 4-hour AM session, and 40 multiple-choice questions in the 4-hour PM session.

Todd Brewood and Ryan Brotherson both passed the NCEES Structural Engineering (SE) Exam. It is designed for engineers who practice in jurisdictions that may license structural engineers separately from other professional engineers. This 16-hour exam uses a separate vertical and lateral component to test your ability to safely design buildings or bridges, especially in areas of high seismicity and high wind.  The SE exam is a breadth and depth exam offered in two components on successive days. The 8-hour Vertical Forces (Gravity/Other) and Incidental Lateral component is offered only on a Friday. It focuses on gravity loads and lateral earth pressures.  The 8-hour Lateral Forces (Wind/Earthquake) component is offered only on a Saturday. It focuses on wind and earthquake loads.  The breadth modules are in the morning sessions. These modules contain questions covering a comprehensive range of structural engineering topics. All questions are multiple-choice.  The depth modules are in the afternoon sessions. These modules focus on a single area of practice in structural engineering. You will choose either buildings or bridges. You must work the same topic area on both components. All questions are constructed response (essay).

Needham DBS appreciates the effort put forth by employees who invest their time and effort to take the exams.  Congratulations to all three!
