Construction Project Manager
Seeking steel construction project managers, 4+ years experience. Experience with design-build projects is a must. Construction project managers at Needham DBS have a high degree of involvement with every aspect of the project from initial “napkin sketch” budget pricing through construction.
Candidate will be responsible the following:
- External project coordination externally with contractors, design team, and owners
- Internal coordination with engineers and detailers
- Estimating and budget pricing for turnkey steel packages
- Coordination with internal steel detailing staff
- Assistance with shop drawing and erection drawing releases
- Purchase orders and project budget management
- Jobsite visits to inventory and QC steel deliveries
- Scheduling and coordination of deliveries
Skills required:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering

Engineering Project Manager
Seeking structural engineering project managers, 6+ years experience, with experience leading a project team. Strong background in structural steel design and experience with design-build projects are a must. Project managers at Needham DBS have a high degree of involvement with every aspect of the project from initial “napkin sketch” concept through construction. Position involves opportunity for expansion into the steel supply and procurement (aka DBS, or Design Build Steel) aspect of the business.
Candidate will be responsible the following:
- External project coordination externally with contractors, design team, and owners
- Internal coordination with other engineers
- Supervision of design performed by younger engineering staff
- Oversight of project construction documents
- Working with steel construction managers on preliminary designs to support estimating and budget pricing for turnkey steel packages
- Coordination with internal steel detailing staff
- Review of steel detailing models and assistance with shop drawing and erection drawing release
Skills required:
- Strong communication skills (with clients and internal staff)
- Good professional writing skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- Master’s Degree preferred
- PE license required, SE license desirable but not required
- Strong structural steel design background
- Experience with design-build projects and working directly for contractors

- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit Structure
- RAM, STAAD, or RISA software experience (any combination of these)

Drafter/Detailer Job Description:
Utilize AutoCAD and/or REVIT for projects. Develop or modify deliverables based on rough sketches, marked-up copies and/or detailed verbal instructions. Develop necessary views, sections and details with supervision. Learn and understand project and Company standards and procedures. Perform computations such as material quantity estimate, dimensional checks, etc, as assigned. SDS/2 Detailing and steel detailing background or capability to learn new skills is required.
- Minimum of 3 years related work experience
- Diploma or Certificate required
- Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Experience in SDS/2 is a plus
- Ability to read Structural and Architectural design documents
